About Myself and This Blog

As a Christian layman and professional agricultural economist I recognize the need for people to have an accurate, informed understanding of the doctrines of God’s grace in Jesus Christ as well as the economic realities and systems in the world around them. I also have been impressed of late with the need to try to contribute to the discussion of public policy and economic issues in a reasoned, honest, and Christ-honoring manner.

The purpose of this site is multi-faceted.  First, it is to provide interested people with sources of sound biblical teaching on such theological issues as salvation by grace through faith in Jesus Christ, God’s sovereignty and His other divine characteristics, the sinful total depravity of mankind before God, God’s unconditional election of believers unto salvation, the believer’s assurance of salvation, the ministry of the Holy Spirit, a dispensational understanding end-times prophecy, etc. In addition, my purpose here is to present what I hope to be informed, constructive opinions on economic and public policy issues from both a free market economics and a conservative political perspective. It is my hope that as a Christian I can be “salt” and not “gasoline” in discussions of the “hot” economic and political issues affecting ourselves, our families, and our countrymen now and in the future – until the Lord returns!  Of  course, what is biblically correct has to be stated regardless of whether it is in disagreement with others views or not.  The same is true in regards to the realities of economic systems. To maintain your Christian testimony in the public arena in controversial issues is a matter of both personal, professional responsibility and of representing God’s grace and character toward all you come in contact with.  That is the goal anyway.

On this site I also plan to provide information on the ministries of the Church – taking a conservative, biblical, discerning view of modern church growth / seeker sensitive trends as well as postmodern emergent church approaches to church ministry.

So, for interested people in the region of my home in Western Kansas, I hope this site will provide you with biblical teaching regarding salvation from sin, the doctrines of grace, and the Lordship of Jesus Christ, and also provide biblical, Christ-centered guidance on how we who believe in Jesus Christ unto salvation should then live to please God. I also hope that the conservative economic and political information on this site will inform people of at least this conservative Christian’s value system integrates with his personal view of the economic systems and the political world and the movement of the peoples around him.

Personally speaking, I and my family attend a conservative Bible church, and are conservative in our economic and political viewpoints. I am trained as a professional agricultural economist. Any opinions on religious, political or social issues expressed here are clearly and solely my own, and in no way represent the educational institution or the state I am employed by. As the Bible says in 1 Peter 2:13-20…

Honor Authority

13 Submit yourselves for the Lord’s sake to every human institution, whether to a king as the one in authority,

14 or to governors as sent by him for the punishment of evildoers and the praise of those who do right.

15 For such is the will of God that by doing right you may silence the ignorance of foolish men.

16 Act as free men, and do not use your freedom as a covering for evil, but use it as bondslaves of God.

17 Honor all people, love the brotherhood, fear God, honor the king.

18  Servants, be submissive to your masters with all respect, not only to those who are good and gentle, but also to those who are unreasonable.

19 For this finds favor, if for the sake of conscience toward God a person bears up under sorrows when suffering unjustly.

20 For what credit is there if, when you sin and are harshly treated, you endure it with patience? But if when you do what is right and suffer for it you patiently endure it, this finds favor with God.

In Christ,

A Church Layman

I just knew that God’s people were out there somewhere keeping a clear head as it relates to the truth about energy and keeping America strong and free.

Keep up the good work,

Bill Woods
